A person registered under the category of Candidate or Apprentice may not draft building plans or submit plans to the Municipality independently. Candidates or Apprentices must work under the supervision of a registered professional, who assumes responsibility for the plans drafted and submitted. The supervising architectural professional will assume responsibility for those plans.

Failure to comply with the CPD requirements is considered misconduct in terms of the Code of Conduct. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, which can include fines, suspension, or, in severe or repeated cases, deregistration.

Registered professionals are required to maintain CPD records and ensure compliance to remain in good standing with SACAP. Any deficiencies can typically be rectified by completing the outstanding CPD activities and submitting the relevant documentation for verification.
