DESIGNING CREATIVELY WITH DAYLIGHT

Description

This is an interactive live online course, via Zoom, that gives you a practical and aesthetic foundation to the key Principles and Rules of Thumb for designing with natural light. All successful designs have mastered the play of natural lighting across surfaces and through volumes.
You'll learn how to analyse the different kinds of daylight to significantly improve the living experience by enhancing the subtle interplay of light and shadows. This includes how to configure the overall massing of the building, through to the nature and positioning of the fenestration - without having to number crunch! We also deal with the basic errors most designers consistently make.

The course covers material not taught at university or Technikon!  Expect the unexpected!

The aim of this CPD is to equip designers with a basic understanding of the properties, principles and applications of light, ventilation, colour (including some effects) and sound (including some acoustics) in design. The CPD will give a better understanding of the principles governing various regulations in SANS 10400, as well as giving guidelines to healthy design. (This is NOT a course on any particular SANS document). The CPD includes other relevant document handouts as well.
