The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP)
conducted Public Awareness Campaign in Soweto Johannesburg, South Africa on
Friday, May 12, 2023. The campaign was aimed at educating the members of the public
about architecture and the importance of registered professionals on building
projects. The campaign kicked off in the vibrant and bustling communities
around Bara Taxi Rank, and Maponya Mall in Soweto. |
The
SACAP officials recently hit the streets of Soweto to undertake public
awareness campaign to educate the
public about the mandate of SACAP. To that end, officials distributed
informative brochures and answered questions about the benefits of appointing
registered professionals on building projects. Members of the public were
advised that using registered professional will ensure that their buildings are
compliant with building regulations, they are safe, functional, and
aesthetically pleasing.
The SACAP hopes that the public awareness campaign will contributes to education and understanding of architecture and the importance of appointing registered professionals for building projects.

The South African Council
for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is legally
charged to regulate the architectural profession in South Africa by the
Architectural Profession Act 2000, Act 44 of 2000. The architectural profession
includes professional architects, senior architectural technologists,
architectural technologists, draughtspersons, specified categories, and
candidates in each of the categories of registration, all of whom are required
