SACAP Extends 2025 Amnesty Campaign

For Immediate Release: 4 July 2025

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is pleased to announce key updates to the 2025

Amnesty Campaign. The amnesty period has been extended from the original closing date of 30 June 2025 to 31 August 2025.

The qualifying cut-off date for individuals whose registration with SACAP was cancelled due to non-payment of annual fees has also been extended from 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2023. This crucial update broadens the scope of eligible professionals who can now benefit from this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. SACAP urges all qualifying architectural candidates and professionals to act decisively and take full advantage of this unprecedented initiative to restore professional registration and rejoin the architectural profession.

Launched on 1 April 2025, the Amnesty Campaign is aimed at individuals whose SACAP registration was cancelled due to non-payment of annual fees before 1 April 2023 (updated from 1 April 2022). This initiative is more than a reinstatement process; it is a national call to reignite professional aspirations and contribute to strengthening the architectural profession.

To date, over 800 Registered Persons (RPs) have already seized this opportunity to regularise their professional standing. SACAP has also received numerous requests from interested individuals to extend the qualifying period, hence this decision.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says SACAP Registrar, Adv. Toto Fiduli. “We encourage all eligible professionals to step forward, rebuild their careers, and play a part in shaping the future of architecture in South Africa.”

Why act now?

·       New deadline: 31 August 2025

·       All administrative and penalty fees are waived

·       Only the 2025/2026 annual fees are required for reinstatement

Eligibility criteria:

·       Applies to individuals whose registration was cancelled due to non-payment before 1 April 2023

·       Excludes individuals deregistered due to misconduct or ethical violations

·       Those with outstanding invoices related to misconduct must first settle those amounts before applying for amnesty

Don’t let this unique chance pass you by. Ensure you’re ready to resume your status with SACAP’s support. Time is running out, apply before 31 August 2025! For more information, please visit the SACAP website: www.sacapsa.com  or email info@sacapsa.com
