SACAP and GBCSA Strengthen Collaboration Through Recognition of GBCSA as a Voluntary Association
Johannesburg, South Africa – The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is pleased to announce the recognition of the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) as a Voluntary Association (VA). The recognition of GBCSA strengthens SACAP’s ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration across the architectural and broader built environment sector and supporting initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the architectural profession in South Africa.
GBCSA plays an important role in promoting sustainable building practices and supporting the transformation of the built environment towards greater environmental responsibility, resilience and sustainability. Through its recognition as a VA, GBCSA joins SACAP’s network of recognised VAs that contribute to professional development, knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement and the advancement of the architectural profession.
SACAP and GBCSA recognise
the importance of collaboration between professional regulatory bodies and
industry organisations in responding to the evolving needs of the built
environment. The organisations share a commitment to promoting sustainability,
climate-responsive design, professional development and the creation of a
resilient and sustainable built environment.
“SACAP welcomes GBCSA as a recognised VA and looks forward to strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly those relating to sustainability, climate-responsive design, professional development and the creation of a resilient built environment,” said SACAP Registrar, Adv. Toto Fiduli
“This recognition further demonstrates the importance of collaboration between professional regulatory bodies and industry organisations in responding to the changing needs of the built environment and advancing a sustainable architectural profession”.
GBCSA is very pleased to formalise this association with SACAP,” says Georgina Smit, CEO of GBCSA. “Architectural professionals have a critical role to play in shaping a more sustainable built environment - not only through the design of new buildings, but also through how we approach the transformation and performance of our existing building stock.
“Sustainability should be an integral part of any building. Our aim is to have every building on a sustainability journey, and architectural professionals are key to ensuring that buildings are beautiful spaces to inhabit, efficient to run, and resilient in the face of climate impacts.”
Both organisations look forward to building on this recognition through continued engagement and collaboration for the benefit of the architectural profession and the broader built environment sector.
