Frequently Asked Questions.

If you are registered outside South Africa, but want to undertake architectural work in South Africa, you will need to apply for registration with SACAP and write and pass the professional practice examination of this Council.

An evaluation from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) must be submitted with the application for evaluation of foreign qualifications.  The certificate issued by SAQA will indicate whether this qualification is acceptable and equal to any of the accredited and approved qualifications in Architecture in South Africa.

The SAQA evaluation shall be used to determine the aligned SA equivalent qualification and category of registration of an applicant.

Certificates are only issued to persons registered in a professional registration category.  The certificate will be available on the registered person’s online profile.

You only register once.  You will however be liable for payment of an annual fee.  This fee is levied at the beginning of SACAP’s financial year, being 1 April.  The invoice for the annual fees will be available on your online profile.
