On 01 August 2025, the Hermanus Magistrate
Court convicted Mr. Wally Brown of the crime of contravening Section
18(2) read with Section 26(3) of the Architectural Profession Act 44 of 2000.
for
performing architectural work whilst he was not registered with SACAP. |
The case followed a complaint received by SACAP on 06 June 2023 which led to a thorough criminal investigation and Mr. Brown’s subsequent arrest. The Hermanus Magistrate Court found that Mr. Wally Brown, unlawfully and intentionally misrepresented himself as an Architect to the public and he was accordingly sentenced by the Magistrate's court.
