UKZN HONOURS PROGRAMME 2024

 

 


Applications for the BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURE HONOURS (144C) B.Arch.Hons Programme for 2024 is open and will close on 30th November 2023.
 
The programme offering is either full time (1 year) or part time (2 years).

Entrance requirements:
 
1. Applicants are eligible to apply to register for the qualification of Bachelor of Architecture Honours if they have previously been awarded an undergraduate qualification  in architecture at NQF level 7 with a minimum  of 60% average across all modules and a  minimum of 60% for the Architectural Design module(s) and Theory of Architecture module(s) at exit level.
 
2. Applicants with an academic average  between 50% and 60% across all modules are required to obtain at least two years of work experience in architecture, before being eligible to apply to register for the qualification of Bachelor of Architecture Honours.
 
3. All applications are to be supported with an Architectural Design Portfolio (digital) assessed as satisfactory by the Discipline.
 
The portfolio should demonstrate evidence of the applicant’s level of critical thinking, architectural design process and technical abilities.  The portfolio should include selected architectural projects that demonstrate the critical process for research and design approaches to architectural problems, technical resolution, documentation and professional practice acumen, in A3 format, as an electronic submission.
 
The portfolio should a single pdf document and not be more than 20 megabytes (MB) in size. It is to be submitted electronically via email to our Post graduate administrator Ms Nolundi Mzolo, archapplications@ukzn.ac.za
 
Each portfolio is evaluated by a panel constituted by the Architecture Admissions Committee. A criterion based assessment approach will be utilised, in the form of rubrics / mark memos in order to maintain high quality, fair, transparent and consistent assessment of portfolios.
