Joint statement issued by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) and the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute, the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Following a meeting between the two regulatory authorities, we wish to convey the following to the Built Environment profession and the public:

​

1. There is no Built Environment profession title called Heritage Architect.​
2. In addition, there is no requirement to be member of any association to before submitting applications or plans to the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute.
3. We confirm that anyone can submit an application to Amafa Institute, but in cases where drawings must be prepared, any architectural professional with appropriate expertise and/or experience may prepare and submit plans to Amafa Institute.
