Practice notice on as built plans and additional work

1.  As-Built Drawings

Where as-built drawings are prepared for informational or record purposes only, such work may be undertaken by any appropriately registered professional within the architectural profession.

2.    Work Requiring Building Plan Approval

Any work requiring building plan approval must be supported by assessment reports from competent persons in the relevant disciplines, including structural integrity and fire protection, confirming that the building, as documented, complies with all applicable design codes and regulatory requirements. Where these assessment reports identify the need for additional architectural work, such work must be carried out by a registered professional in the appropriate registration category. If the assessment reports state that no additional architectural work is required, such work may be undertaken by any appropriately registered professional within the architectural profession.

3.    Land-Use Management Applications

Land-use management applications, including building line relaxations, shall not preclude architectural professionals from submitting building plans for approval. Such land-use processes must be concluded prior to the submission of a building plan by a professional duly authorised to lodge applications in terms of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act.
