CRITICAL POST: PROGRAMME AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT: DIVIVISION SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT: FACILITY MANAGEMENT

 

1.            I hereby request for advertisement of the following posts.

1.1       POST: SL 12: x 2

            CHIEF ENGINEER (CIVIL): Colonel (At the level of Deputy Director) MMS Band

            Programme and Project Management

Requirements:

*Competency in the post-specific core functions *Proven appropriate managerial experience *Grade 12 certification or equivalent qualification *BSc (Structural) or equivalent B Tech qualification *Compulsory registration as a Professional Engineer at the Engineering Council of South Africa *Relevant post-registration experience will be an advantage *Fluency in at least two of the official languages of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence *Skills: Computer literacy, problem solving, project management

 

            Core Functions: Sub Component Code: 005149

*Manage all Civil/Structural aspects of construction projects, including design, documentation and inspection *Brief/liaise with consultants *Analysis and design of structures of all SAPS building projects.

 

 1.2      POST: SL 12: x 2

            CHIEF ENGINEER (MECHANICAL): Colonel (At the level of Deputy Director)

            MMS Band:  Programme and Project Management

            Requirements:

Competency in the post-specific core functions *Proven appropriate managerial experience *Grade 12 certification or equivalent qualification *B.Eng (Mechanical) or relevant/equivalent qualification *Compulsory registration as a Professional Engineer at the Engineering Council of South Africa *Relevant post-registration experience will be an advantage *Fluency in at least two of the official languages of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence *Skills: Computer literacy, problem solving, project management

Core Functions: Sub Component Code: 005149

*Manage all mechanical aspects of construction projects, including design, documentation and inspection *Brief/liaise with consultants *Compile specifications for equipment used in SAPS

 

    1.3   POST: SL 10 x 3       

            CONTROL INDUSTRIAL TECHNICIAN (ARCHITECTURAL): Lieutenant Colonel

            (At the level of Assistant Director) Band D: Programme and Project

            Management

            Requirements:

           *Competency in the post-specific core functions *Proven appropriate managerial

            experience *Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification *National Diploma in 

            Architectural Technology or relevant/equivalent qualification *Registration with the

            South African Council for Architectural Profession *Relevant post-registration

            experience will be an advantage *Fluency in at least two of the

            official languages of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s

            licence *Skills: Communication, precision and problem solving *Knowledge: All

            architectural aspects of design, products, methods, etc

 

            Core Functions: Sub Component code 005149  

           * Create guidelines, norms and standards for the design of building projects in

            cooperation with Demand and Policy Management: Facilities *Assist with evaluation

            of technical detail of bid documents and suitable tenderers *Compile sketch plans,

            working drawings and documentation as well as specification for all construction

            projects *Advise on and inspect all architectural work on site *Give advice and

            guidance to external consultants*Render advice in respect of the determination of

            accommodation needed, selection of sites, and architectural aspects of all minor and

            major works *Give technical and expert inputs with regard to the compilation of

            documentation (including details, finishes, schedules and other specifications)

           *Conduct research and development with regard to architectural services

 

1.4      POST: SL 8 x 2

           CHIEF INDUSTRIAL TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL): Captain (Band C): Programme

           and Project Management:

           Requirements:

*Competency in the post-specific core functions * Grade 12 certification or equivalent qualification, Nat Diploma (Electrical Engineering) *Registration as an Professional Engineering Technician with the Engineering Council of South Africa *Fluency in at least two of the official languages of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence *Skills: Computer literacy, problem solving, project management

 

Core Functions: Sub Component Code: 005149

To provide a Professional Electrical Engineering service to the SAPS with regard to     Building projects, maintenance projects and technical support *Ensure technical compliance and quality certification on construction/maintenance sites and facilities *Prepare and compile technical documentation and specifications for the Bid/Tender committee *Ensure the implementation of effective, efficient and sustainable energy sources and usage at new construction projects and existing facilities *Advise on and inspect electrical work on-site *Provide advice and guidance to external consultants

 

1.5      POST: SL 6 x 1

           INDUSTRIAL TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL): Sergeant (Band B1): Programme and

            Project Management

            Requirements:

*Competency in the post-specific core functions *Grade 12 certificate or equivalent

qualification*National Certificate in Electrical Engineering or relevant/equivalent

qualification *Registration with the South African Council for

Electrical Engineers Profession will be an advantage *Relevant post-registration

experience will be an advantage *Fluency in at least two of the official languages

of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence *Skills: 

Communication, precision and problem solving

 

            Core Functions: Sub Component code 005149  

            To provide a Professional Electrical Engineering service to the SAPS with regard

            SENIOR INDUSTRIAL TECHNICIAN (Warrant Officer) Band B1: Programme and

            Project Management (Built Environment: Professional Services Civil/Structural)

            Requirements:

*Competency in the post-specific core functions *Grade 12 certificate or  

equivalent qualification *National Certificate in Civil/Structural Engineering or

relevant/equivalent qualification *Registration with the South African Council for

Civil Engineers Profession will be an advantage *Relevant post-registration

experience will be an advantage *Fluency in at least two of the official languages

of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence *Skills:

Communication, precision and problem solving

 

            Core Functions: Sub Component code 005149  

            *To manage a variety of civil/structural related aspects of building projects and

            compiling of specifications*Co-ordinate civil/structural related projects/problems

            (according to chief engineer. Briefing and liaising with consultants/contractors

            and do site inspections/attend site meetings of building projects (according to

            instructions of chief engineer: Programme and Project Management

2.2       POST: SL 12: x 2

                        CHIEF QUANTITY SURVEYORS: Colonel (At the level of Deputy Director) MMS Band Programme and Project Management

            Requirements:

*Competency in the post-specific core functions *Proven appropriate managerial experience *Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification *BSc (Hons) (QS) Degree or relevant/equivalent qualification *Compulsory registration as a professional Quantity Surveyor with the South African Council of Quantity Surveyors *Fluency in at least two if the official languages, of which one must be English *Valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence

Skills: Problem solving, project management, communication and precision

Knowledge: Up to date costing data, building industry, construction contracts

 

 

Core Functions:

*Measure and price drawings for own resources projects *General administration management of the cost and cash flows of construction projects *Monitor expenses and payments on projects executed by external consultant

 

2.3     POST: SL 10: x 1

          PRINCIPAL ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL) (Lt Colonel) Band D Programme and

          Project Management

          Requirements:

          *Competency in the post-specific core functions *A minimum of three (3) years

          Proven managerial experience *An applicable NQF6 or higher qualification in

          Electrical Engneering *Registration as a Electrical Engineer with the South African

          Council for Electrical Engineering Professionals *Fluency in at least two of the official

          languages of which one must be English *A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence.

 

 Core Functions:

 Manage electrical related projects from inception to commissioning*Ensure technical

 compliance and quality certification on construction/maintenance sites and facilities

 *Prepare and compile technical documentation and specifications for the Bid/Tender

 sources and usage at new construction projects and existing facilities                             

 

 

2.4       POST: SL 12: x 3

            PROFESSIONAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER: Colonel (At the level of Deputy Director) MMS Band Programme and Project Management

            Requirements:

*Competency in the post-specific core functions *Proven appropriate managerial experience *Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification * B Tech or BSc (Hons) (Relevant to the construction industry) Degree or relevant/equivalent qualification *Compulsory registration as a professional Construction Project Manager with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) *Fluency in at least two if the official languages, of which one must be English *Valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence Skills: Problem solving, project management, communication and precision Knowledge:

 

Core Functions:

*Appointing and managing a professional construction team, from pre-construction to

the completions and final handover of the project. * Managing the professional

construction team, including main contractors, electrical engineers, quantity

surveyors, structural engineers, land surveyors, mechanical engineers, civil

engineers, civil contractors, town planner, geo technical engineers, fire engineers,

architects. * Managing the programming and cash flow project
