Communication - SACAP retirement fee structure

SACAP’s Fees Structure for Registered Persons who fully have retired and those who are retired but perform expert services

 

The Council has, from the beginning of this financial year, 1 April 2024, approved a differentiation of professionals that can apply to retire fully from practising architecture and registered persons who wish to retire, but still perform architecture expert services.

The differences between these categories can be summarised as follows:

1. RETIRED

1.3.      Persons who longer practice architecture in any form.

1.4.      Applicants must be 70 years or older.

1.5.      Registration will no longer be ACTIVE

1.6.      Will no longer have a SACAP Registration Number.

1.7.      Will not be liable for payment of annual fees. 

1.8.      No longer have to renew registraiton in terms of the CPD conditions and therefore do not have to comply with such conditions.

1.9.      Will not have a SACAP registration certificate.

 

2.    RETIRED ARCHITECTURAL PROFESSIONALS PROVIDING EXPERT SERVICES

2.1      Registered persons who provide expert services related to architecture, such as arbitrators, expert witnesses, consultancy and / or any other functions approved by the Council excluding the designing building , submission of building plans to the local authority or any architecture work set out from stages 1 -6.

2.2       Applicants must be 70 years or older.

2.3       Registraton will remain ACTIVE

2.4     A new SACAP registration number will be allocated for expert services

2.5       Will pay the reduced fee of R2 050.00 for the current financial year.

2.6    As persons listed in this category will still be performing architectural work, they have to comply with the CPD conditions and renew their registration every 5 years.

2.7       Will have a SACAP registration certificate, indicating their registration in this category.

 

3.         APPLICATION PROCESS

3.1    A registered professional seeking to be placed on the retired register, must apply, through the SACAP website.

3.2    The registered professional shall indicate whether he or she wishes to provide architectural expert services or retire completely from the architectural profession.

3.3    SACAP shall acknowledge receipt of the application within 7 working days.

 

Should the registered professional wishing to retire apply on time – the current year’s invoice will be credited with the difference of the amount.
