The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is a regulatory body for the Architectural Profession.  SACAP is established in terms of Section 2 of Act No. 44 of 2000. SACAP regulates the architectural profession by setting up standards for architecture education, training, registration, and ethical and professional conduct.

Position: Officer: Officer Legal and Compliance  

 Role description

              The candidate will be responsible for the following:

                

                  Investigations and complaints of improper conduct

 

      Assist the Investigating Committee on section 28 of the Act 44 of 2000 mandate to Investigate complaints of improper conduct;

       Assist the Investigating Committee in investigating the complaints of improper conduct initiated by any business unit within SACAP and referred to the Legal and Compliance Unit.;

        Gather information relevant to the investigation of allegations made;

        Timely conclusion of investigations

        Prepare quality investigation reports

        Maintain an effective filing system and prepare Investigating Committee files.

        Ensure compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure.

   Handle all complaints of improper conduct in terms of the of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act of 2000;

 

            Professional service support

     Assist with the provision of professional guidance to SACAP, stakeholders, and Local Authorities..

        Monitor compliance about SACAP’s legal, regulatory, and statutory aspects of its mandate;

        Assist with the adherence to the Act and the Code of Conduct;

        Conduct presentations on the Act and the Code of Conduct

    Drafting of legal contracts such as Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Employment Contracts, Consultancy Agreements; and Project Contracts.


            Management Reporting

        Assist with the compilation of Management reports to the Senior Manager Legal & Compliance

        Ensure accurate reporting on monthly and on quarterly basis;

 

 Requirements

        Matric/ Grade 12 or equivalent.

        Bachelor of Laws/BProc degree

     Postgraduate qualification in compliance, arbitration, and/or dispute resolution will be an added advantage

        Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience

        General Litigation

        Drafting experience

        Report Writing
