COVID-19 – South African Council for the Architectural Profession’s (SACAP) contingency measures

Dear valued Stakeholders

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the globe and into Africa, we are deeply concerned about its effect on our stakeholders. We acknowledge President Cyril Ramaphosa’s pronouncement on 15 March 2020, declaring national state of disaster.

Our focus is to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of all our internal and external stakeholders is prioritised, insofar as this is possible, while still delivering our statutory mandate and the 5th term Council strategy.

Despite the status quo on coronavirus, SACAP offices will remain open, but we have taken various precautionary measures including:

  • Restricting travel;
  • Requiring self-isolation by employees who show flu-like symptoms;
  • Keeping our employees constantly informed of the ongoing situation;
  • Taking steps to ensure that our premises are properly sanitized and secured;
  • Postponing the Professional Practice Examination until further notice;
  • Postponements of all stakeholder engagements until further notice;
  • Discourage face to face meetings with external stakeholders, therefore, all queries should be communicated to the SACAP via email or telephonically.

If the situation deteriorates to the point where we need to close our offices in the interests of protecting our employees and all stakeholders, we will do so and put measures in place to ensure that we continue to fulfil our statutory mandate.

We will advise you of any further developments as the situation evolves.

We thank you for your understanding and bearing with us during these difficult times.

Yours sincerely

Charles Ntsindiso Nduku

President of the 5th term Council
