Call for Registered Architectural Professionals to serve as Ombudsman

In terms of Section 13 (g) of the Architectural Profession Act of 2000, the Council may take any steps it considers necessary for the protection of the public in dealing with Registered Persons for the maintenance of the integrity and the enhancement of the status of the architectural profession. To that end, the Council developed the Rules of Professional Conduct which Registered Persons are required to abide by and uphold.


SACAP seeks to introduce an Ombudsman who will assist to resolve disputes between members of the public and Registered Professionals promptly and inexpensively.


Therefore, we invite Registered Architectural Professionals in all provinces to submit applications for consideration to serve as an Ombudsman in each province.


Requirements to serve as an Ombudsman:

1.  Registered Architectural Professionals in all four categories of registration and in good standing with SACAP;
2.  Knowledge of the architectural profession; and
3.  Relevant Skills in Dispute Resolution and Arbitrations.


Applications should consist of the following (in the order indicated):

1.  A Letter of Application (maximum two pages) explaining the applicant’s reason for applying for the appointment to serve as an Ombudsman and the value he/she could bring to this position;

2.  An abridged CV (a maximum of three pages);
3.  Three contactable referees with full names, designation, organisation, e-mail address and office as well as cell phone numbers.


As part of the appointment process, SACAP reserves the right to request applicants to provide certified copies of qualifications and any other additional information or documentation considered necessary.


Applications should be submitted to SACAP no later than 16h00 on Thursday, 08 August   2019.
