SACAP applauds appointment of new leadership at Public Works and Infrastructure

Johannesburg, 31 May 2019. The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) congratulates and welcomes Ms Patricia de Lille as the new political head of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

Minister de Lille was announced as the person to lead the Public Works and Infrastructure portfolio in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s reconfigured Cabinet on Wednesday 29 May 2019. Ms Noxolo Kiviet was revealed as the new Deputy Minister in the portfolio.

“We are excited and inspired by the appointment of the new Minister and her Deputy and look forward to taking the architectural profession to new levels under their guidance and leadership. One of our key priorities  in the architectural profession is the acceleration of our efforts to transform the architectural profession  so that it plays a more active role in shaping our society to reflect South Africa in all its diversity; as well as encouraging unregistered and de-registered practitioners to register with the Council,” SACAP President, Ntsindiso Charles Nduku said.

SACAP is part of the Council for the Built Environment (CBE), an overarching body that co-ordinates six Councils for the Built Environment Professions - Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architects, Project and Construction Management, Property Valuation, and Quantity Surveying. The CBE answers to the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.
