Invitation to serve as a Committee member on the Audit and Risk Committee

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is legally charged with regulating the architectural profession in South Africa in terms of the Architectural Profession Act No. 44 of 2000 (the Act). The profession includes architects, senior architectural technologists, architectural technologists, draughtspersons, specified categories and candidates in each of those categories, all of whom are required to be registered by SACAP.

In terms of Section 17 of the Act, the Council may establish any Committee to assist it in the performance of its functions and may appoint any person as a member of that committee.


Audit and Risk Committee

Role Description     

Assist the Council in its oversight on the integrity of financial reporting, including supporting; Council in meeting its responsibilities regarding financial statements and the financial reporting systems and internal controls.

Monitor on behalf of Council, the effectiveness and objectivity of internal and external auditors.

Provide inputs on Council assessment of SACAP risks and determination of risk appetite as part of overall setting of strategy

Assist the Council on its oversight of SACAP’s risk management framework, and monitoring its effectiveness. 


Relevant academic qualifications and experience in economics, law, corporate governance, finance, accounting, commerce, information technology, public affairs or human resource management.

Persons who believe that they have appropriate skills, expertise and experience, coupled with the passion and drive to add value and contribute to the architectural profession, are requested to submit their applications to SACAP no later than 10 May 2019.

Applications should consist of the following:

       a letter of application (comprising a maximum of two pages) explaining their reason for applying, which Committee they are interested in being appointed to and the value they believe they could add to SACAP and to the particular Committee; and

       an abridged CV (comprising a maximum of three pages) highlighting their experience in their particular profession, in education and in a Voluntary Association.

Council reserves the right to request from applicants certified copies of qualifications and any other information considered relevant.
