SESSION 1 – 8:30am to 9:45am Relevance of CPD include the conditions and validation

 

 

· To develop the professionals understanding of the relevance CPD. This includes the obligations of the presenter, who can present and the VA and the delegates rights.

 

SACAP - Professional Competency: This Workshop covers the following Professional Competencies:

· 10 - Office practice, legal aspects and ethics

DELEGATES WHO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP WOULD HAVE THESE QUESTIONS ANSWERED:

1. What is CPD?

2. Why is CPD important / What are the benefits of CPD?

3. Who or what are approved CPD providers?

4. Who or what can validate Category 1 CPD?

5. What are the conditions regarding the validation of CPD?

 

 

SESSION 2 – 9:50am to 11:50am NBR - O & SANS 10400 O: Natural Lighting, Zone of Space

· To develop the professionals understanding of Natural Lighting compliance in buildings.

SACAP - Professional Competency: This Workshop covers the following Professional Competencies:

1 - Architectural Design.

2 - Environmental relationships.

3 - Construction technology

DELEGATES WHO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP WOULD HAVE GAINED AN UNDERSTANDING OF:

· Therelevance of the regulation.

· Minimum Natural Lighting 'deemed to satisfy' requirements.

· Zones of Space calculation methods

SESSION 3 – 12:20pm to 2:20pm Fire Safety Distance in terms of the NBR & SANS 10400 T

Objectives:

  • The Delegate would understand the importance & relevance of this Law & Standards.
  • The Delegate would gain knowledge on the different wall types including the openings, their performance in fire & choice of walls types.
  • The Delegate would gain knowledge & tools on how to position buildings in relation to boundaries & other buildings to prevent the spread of fire.
  • The Delegate would understand the methodology to calculate & draw / depict the fire safety distance required.

2. Safety Distance (wall types)

3. Safety Distance to the Lateral Boundary

4. Safety Distance on the Same Site

5. Safety Distance Sprinkler System & Structural Stability

6. Safety Distance Examples

SESSION 4 – 2:30: 4:30pm Energy usage in buildings:Naturally ventilated vs Artificially ventilated method. Which method to use?

· To develop the professionals understanding of the different methods of calculating the Fenestration compliance and which method is better suited to meet your client’s needs.

· This seminar includes an example clearly showing the different outcomes using the different methods.

3 - Construction technology.

7 - Building services & related technologies.

· This workshop covers the impacts of using thedifferent methods of achieving compliance. These impacts include initial and lifetime costs of the building. It also demonstrates the impact of Architectural massing and form on the overall environmental impact of the building.
