Discreet Violence, Architecture and the French War in Algeria

SAMIA HENNI was born in Algiers, Algeria. She is the author of Architecture of Counterrevolution: The French Army in Northern Algeria (Zurich: gta Verlag, 2017). In 2016, she received her PhD with distinction and the ETH Medal in the History and Theory of Architecture from the gta Institute, ETH Zurich. She is currently lecturing at Princeton University, and has taught at the gta Institute, ETH Zurich and at the Geneva University of Art and Design. Her teaching and writings focus on the intersection between colonial policies, military operations, architecture and spatial planning.
