Course information (Content/Overview)

SANS 10400XA is now a Compulsory Standard for building design . SANS 10400XA itself sets out certain prescriptive standards, and in other instances, it requires us to comply with the Building Practices set out in SANS 204.
Presentation-workshops leading to comprehensive understanding of these standards are being offered in countrywide. The focus of the workshops is:
· Knowing how SANS 10400XA and SANS 204 relate to each other

· Understanding the Physics of thermal transfer

· How to do the Maths for fenestration and roof calculations

· Demand & consumption calculations for lighting

The workshop has been:
· Validated by the SA Institute of Architects, and will earn 1.5 Category One CPD credits.

· Approved by the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications

Course requirements:
It is ESSENTIAL that delegates bring the following items to the presentation:
· Delegate’s SACAP Registration Number · A pocket calculator · A copy of SANS 204:2011 Edition 1 or Copies of the following pages of SANS 204; 2011 Edition 1: pages 3 to 14; 18 to 24; 30; 31; 38 to 43; 58 to 61. · A copy of SANS 10400XA is recommended, but if it is not available, please bring copies of the following pages of SANS 20400-XA:2011 Edition 1, pages 3 to 10. It is seriously not recommended to bring the bulky edition containing all the SANS 10400 parts.

Registration will commence at07h45, presentation will commence at promptly at08h20. Signing-in therefore MUST HAVE BEEN COMPLETED before that. The workshop will normally end at17h00.

Compulsory reading:
Because this course is now accredited by the NRCS, delegates are required to read and understand the following sections of SANS 10400-XA and SANS 204. A declaration that the delegate has read and understood the prescribed parts (which really are very simple), as well as the passing of an open-book exam, are required by the NRCS
