Course information (Content/Overview)

The aim of the course is to acquaint participants with tools for solving problems in building design regarding the requirements for Energy Usage and Energy Efficiency focusing on the building envelope. Participants will be presented with the minimum requirements as well as practical examples to satisfy the NBR as per:

● SANS10400-XA: Energy Usage in Buildings


together with the best practice requirements for Energy Efficiency in Buildings as per:

● SANS204: Energy Efficiency in Buildings


Participants will also be acquainted with the Hot Water Requirements prescribed by the National Building Regulations.

Delegates will be informed about the proposed predefined solutions and performance requirements of the new SANS10400XA. This standard, as well as SANS204, are currently being rewritten and will incorporate the new building energy map of South Africa under development by the CSIR for the SABS Committee.
