The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is a regulatory body for the Architectural Profession.  SACAPs primary role is to protect the public by maintaining a register of Architectural Professionals, within the profession through a Code of Professional Conduct, the identification of work that may be performed by registered persons and publishing guidelines for professional fees.


SACAP is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic person to join SACAP as a Legal and Compliance Officer.


Position:  Legal and Compliance Officer

To plan, manage and report on the on-going legal and compliance of SACAP and its portfolios with the legal and regulatory environment. Conduct investigations and assessments of improper conduct reported by the public against registered professionals.


Role Description:

The candidate will be responsible for the following:


Investigations and complaints of improper conduct by registered professionals

  • Manage complaints received from members of the public
  • Gather information relevant for the investigation of allegations made
  • Conduct investigations


Enforcement and Prosecution

  • Assist with the co-ordination of Tribunal activities


Professional Services Support

§  Assist with the provision of professional guidance to SACAP and monitor compliance in relation to its legal, regulatory and statutory aspects of its mandate

§  Assist with the adherence to the Act and the Code of Conduct

§  Drafting of legal contracts such as Service Level Agreement (SLAs), Employment Contracts, Consultancy Agreements; Project Contracts.

Management reporting

§  Assist with the compilation of Management reports to Registrar, EXCO, Council and the Investigating Committee  

Job Requirements:

§  Legal Bachelor Degree

§  Postgraduate qualification in compliance, arbitration and/or dispute resolution will be an added advantage

In this position you will be reporting to SACAP’s Senior Manager: Legal and Compliance.


 All short listed candidates will be subjected to a competency assessment.
