ANNOUNCEMENT

SACAP announces launch of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - Monday, 08 May 2017

ONLINE ACCESS

Every SACAP registered professional can access RPL through SACAP’s website (www.sacapsa.com) after entering their YourMembership online profile login details. The website’s ‘Registration’ tab on the top bar has a drop down menu from where they select Recognition of Prior Learning and also select the professional category they wish to articulate from, as well as up towards.

Applicants will find the online registration form which must be completed and submitted to SACAP for evaluation in order to make sure they meet the criteria and are eligible for the RPL online self-assessment phase.

TWO STAGE PROCESS

The RPL programme has been designed as a two phase process. Before accessing the first online self-assessment phase, the applicant must apply to register with a registration fee, and receive acknowledgement from SACAP on email that their application has been evaluated and accepted.

Thereafter, the successful applicant creates a profile and enters information from five completed projects that demonstrate they meet the minimum standards in 10 different architectural outcome areas. A tutorial assists first time users through this process and they receive an automated report advising them if they have been successful.

Those successful can then apply to complete the second phase (invoiced separately) where they will be invited to present a portfolio of evidence for the projects they submitted in the self-assessment phase. This portfolio is reviewed by an assessment panel. The assessment panel will be made up of registered professionals and academics and will convene in major cities, based on demand, around the country, on pre-determined dates.

During this phase, applicants may be required to undertake a design test/mini dissertation.

In the spirit of transparency and constructive input, every applicant will be issued with an assessment rubric with points range and comments. An independent adjudicator will be part of this jury.
